Bluff

Are you gonna lie to me?
Are
 you gonna lie to yourself?

You
 know that you need help.
I
can see that you are suffering.
Why
won't you say the words to me?
They're
at at the edge of your teeth.

I'm
 calling your bluff.

So
 you scurry upstairs,
But
I don't know why you are so scared.
You
 took the dare.
I
thought you said you didn't care.

I'm
 calling your bluff.

Every
time that you lie to me
Is
just another time that you lie to yourself.

There
are some things I can't help.

But
 I'm calling your bluff.

NOTES
- Supertramp is fuckin badass
- The Bricktop that I listened to is some cool Irish hardcore band, not the boneheaded faux-streetpunk band I saw at Gnarmageddonfest
- The Havoc isn't as shitty as I expected them to be but it's still not my cup of tea
- Favorite new-to-me finds for the month: Sex Prisoner; Graven; Ryan McGregor; Conheartist; Pedestrian; Minnow; Arcane; Syrebris; Agowilt; La Bella; Calculator; Murdoch; Half Goon; The Hotelier; State Lines; POWER; In Transmission
- Worst of the month: Not Much Cooler (overdone); Hug Of War (okay but kinda annoying); Neon Lover (derivative and just not all the way there vocally); Uh Oh! Explosion (all-around god-awful with no redeeming factors)
- Check out Ryan McGregor if you're a fan of Mark Kozelek's various projects, the guitar work is similarly beautiful and stark
- The Egyptian Lover is so cheesy
- How did I sleep on Calculator all this time they fuckin rule
- "Lets Face It; The Time Is Upon Us"
- "If I am dead, why do I feel this way? If I am dead, why am I dreaming? Is this my blood smeared upon my face or is it the love from someone else? Did I discover a darkness stronger than sleep?" - Faith No More
- Adding drums to File Island was a very good idea
- Murdoch is really good I'm glad I was finally able to hear them even if they are broken up now
- How the people in Uh Oh! Explosion can feel any pride at all is beyond me
- That self-titled Plagues EP fucking RIPS
- The new Obsolete Sun record is so damn good...check that shit out www.obsoletesun.bandcamp.com ... Good stuff JJ
- I don't really like Silo The Avatar's raps too much but that instrumental mixtape has some bangers on there, especially track 14
- In Transmission make some truly beautiful music

LIVE NOTES
- Gnarmageddonfest was alot of fun. The Coltranes tore the place up early, Graf Orlock and Sex Prisoner both were hard as fuck, Take Offense fucking RULED, The Stitches were good but totally out of place and I felt bad for them, Dropdead was mesmerizingly strong, and Slapshot was just straight-up fun. Cool stuff.
- Don't go to DIY all-ages sober venues when you're drunk out of your mind. Take it from me, it's not a good look and will only lead to bad things. "Shame."
