NOTES:
-          This new Fiona Apple album is the first full release of hers that I’ve ever listened to
-          “Smells Like Children” is a really shitty CD, if I had paid money for that I’d be pissed off
-          Odd Future deserves neither the derision nor the praise that they receive. Like, they’re alright. Same goes for Lana Del Rey.
-          Some of the tracks on that Zeke album are such blatant Motorhead rip-offs that it makes me cringe
-          The new albums from Killer Mike, El-P, Ab-Soul, Aesop Rock, Nas are all in contention for “best hip hop album of the year” in my mind; I need to give them all more listens because they’re all good.
-          I’ve seen a bunch of music critics just tripping on the new album by Actress but I didn’t really get into when I heard it; maybe it’s another one that needs another spin, but for the opposite reason; I need to give it another chance maybe.
-          That’s right, I listened gave both Randy Travis and Zac Brown a chance. Don’t worry; it cemented the fact that I really do not like radio country from now or from yesterday. It wasn’t just a knee-jerk reaction, even with the best of intentions I can’t get into this shit. The chance I gave to Lisa Marie Presley’s new album worked out a tad bit better but again, Lilith Fair-esque AOR can only get you so far in my book. John Mayer’s a douchebag who has 2 tolerable songs on his entire new album.
-          Dam Funk is one of the coolest artists I’ve learned about in a good while.
-          “In Contrast Of Tomorrow” is still, after all these years, one of my favorite hardcore listens
-          Shadows Fall is so tired
-          “This Just Might Be…The Truth” is another of my favorite hardcore listens and I know this is controversial but it’s actually my favorite Refused album…All the experimentation is what made Refused’s impact last through the years, but this straight ahead raw shit is my favorite
-          Code 13
-          This is what Steve Aoki’s music sounds like? LMFAO? So disappointing after all the hype I’ve heard
-          “Days of the White Owl” was underrated when it came out and nothing has changed since then
-          The vocalist from Seizures told me that he was sick as shit during the recording of “Antipathy”…I guess that’s why its so damn brutal
-          I heard “Limelight” on the radio, realized I didn’t have ANY Rush on my iPod, and freaked the fuck out
-          I always thought The Tallest Man On Earth was gonna be emo acoustic stuff like Dashboard Confessional or something; man was I way off on that one
-          The Hives have fallen a long way. And I was never even really that into them. I can only imagine the disappointment of somebody who they meant a bit more to. This new album is fucking lame.
-          “Machina” is a vastly underrated album.
-          This trendy new band fun. fucking sucks
-          Coheed & Cambria album titles are so ridiculous
-          I feel kinda bad for Garbage
-          About the new Death Grips album: Holy shit. Just holy shit.
-          Absolute worst listens of the month: the oddly poppy nu-metal of Zebrahead, the well-itentioned but unforgivably out of key local act Day Dreams, the contemporary-a-generation-ago gospel-R&B stylings of James Ingram, the angeringly generic radio rock of Dead Sara, The Offspring’s embarrassing new album, B.o.B.’s built-for-MTV-commercial-break-intros new album, the stale-before-it-was-released nu-metal-core that Chimaira plays, the Korean pop boy band drivel of Big Bang, Elle Varner’s incredibly promising but way-too-stylized and girly debut album, and of course Lionel Richie’s self-flagellating new album of his own past hits covered by modern country stars. Some ideas are better left ideas.

I also saw Plagues, Seizures (twice), Motherboy (three times), Colony, Crisis Arm (three times), Adebisi Shank, Zechs Marquise, Fang Island, A Push For Clarity, Sinatra, Au Revoir, Heart Like War, The American Scene, Greg Bennick (spoken word), Xpulsion, Aukerman, The Coltranes (twice), ACxDC, Always Try, Sleepwalkers, Treacherouskin, Breaking Ground, One Choice, Burn Your Life Down, The Pocket Rockets, Shady Characters, northAmericans, Trey The Ruler, Streetlight Fire, Spring Break ’95, Four Minute Mile, Gay Kiss, Urban Struggles, Hordes, Rapid Youth, Babysitter, and Weed perform live.
