This is a list of all the full-length releases I listened to in the
month of March 2013. I have broken a years-long tradition this month and
put my notes beforehand because I feel like this list just needs some
explaining. At the end is a listing of the live performances I went to
this last month.
NOTES:
- I'll be the first to point out the
obvious: This playlist is pretty wack. It's way shorter than my normal
playlists and its all super-mainstream shit or my own musical endeavors.
The excuse I'm gonna give you is that I've been struggling through the
random piles of CDs I take from the Heath house (all this shit are like
the purchased versions not CD-Rs or anything...right down to N Sync) but
like I said, that's an excuse not a legitimate reason. Also my
Fleetwood Mac obsession has not subsided whatsoever; if anything it's
amped itself up to startling, clearly unhealthy levels. I listened to
the song "Caroline" by Concrete Blonde on repeat for like a whole day
and realized that I really like the Goo Goo Dolls. So yeah it's been a
pretty bleak period of time overall.
- At 4 songs I thought that Xpulsion release was an EP but its almost a half an hour of pure riffage I'm calling it an album
- Blondie is absolutely stellar
-
Man Linkin Park and Puddle Of Mudd are just as absolutely weak as I
thought they were gonna be...if I don't like a single one of a band's hit singles I need to stop giving their full-length albums a chance it just hasn't been working out lately.
- I thought Duffy was gonna sound like Robyn or something like that but not so much it reminded me kind of Cat Power
- Multiple Elton John albums? John motherfucking Mellencamp? Really?
- That live 311 album is terrible I gave myself a haircut while I listened to it to take my mind off of it
