- Favorite 'new finds' of the month: Rodrigo y Gabriela, Steely Dan, Total Control, Jackson Sloan & The Rhythmtones
- Both Elton John and Steely Dan have way more sardonic, aggressive, badass lyrics than I had ever given them credit for...Maybe its one of those things you pick up on more with age, IDK
- I will never understand how The Used have amassed so many fans after having sucking so consistently for so long
- I feel kinda guilty even thinking this, but people talk way too much shit on Drake. He's not THAT bad.
- Everybody check out the new demo from Lost Cause, the new hardcore band featuring KP and Sam from The Gravitys www.lostcausehxc.bandcamp.com CH'YEAH
- "Space Oddity" is even much better than I remembered
- I've had that John Lennon compilation for like my whole life and it wasn't til now that realized how big of an omission it was for them to not have included "Isolation"
- That collaboration with Freeway is easily Girl Talk's weakest release that I've heard
- Kendrick Lamar is one of those few widely-lauded artists who completely deserves all his recognition and is not being over-hyped whatsoever. Real shit.
- Worst of the month: Attila, JJ Grey & Mofro, Marina & The Diamonds, Nahko and the Medicine for the People, The Drowning Men, You Me At Six
- How can anyone enjoy Attila? It's like I had thought Emmure was like the bottom of the barrel but apparently there is so, so much further down a band can sink

- If you didn't like Chromeo before the new album won't do much to change that, but if you did, this is a big step up IMO

- The singer from Possessed kicks more ass in his wheelchair than like 90% of standing metal singers
- When I was a kid I thought "Jay And Silent Bob..." was fucking HILARIOUS...nowadays, eh
- Iliza Shlesinger has her moments but she does this goat-voice thing sometimes that just makes me cringe
- "Nymphomaniac" is pretty fucked up, but honestly not as fucked up as I was expecting
- Jim Breuer talking about being too old to go to Slayer shows anymore was fucking hilarious. Spot on.
- Kevin Bacon's accent in "Stir Of Echoes" is distractingly hilarious like the whole movie through
- That Kathleen Hanna documentary did nothing to ingratiate me to her or any of her bands, if anything it made me never want to check out Bikini Kill or Le Tigre because of her personality...Chronic Lyme Disease doesn't exist, she just lives to complain
- I really enjoyed "Arrested Development" EXCEPT for that last, Netflix-only season...Very disappointing
- As monotonous and unchanging as Cannibal Corpse can be, those motherfuckers got heart. Few other bands have gone to the lengths that they have to reach their fan-base all over the world. Ramones status.

- Although my friends separated from me right as they started so I watched the show alone, Faith No More fucking ruled. At one point somebody threw water on Mike Patton right as he was addressing the crowd with no music and he didn't respond at first but for the rest of the night he had this snarky attitude towards the people nearest the stage and eventually threw his own water on a group of people before throwing out a towel sarcastically and calling them a bunch of idiots. It was awesome.

- I can't believe I never listened to the Murder City Devils before, if their comeback album is as badass as this one is I really gotta check out the older stuff
- I've listened to "The Silent Enigma" a few times in the past and it didn't really do much for me but I put it on while doing the dishes and cleaning my apartment and it made a much stronger impression
- I've had that Ruts CD for a long time and never listened to it til this last month...boy was I missing out
- I have always thought the Counting Crows were one of the lamest bands of all time and their new album did nothing to dissuade me

- I've listened to "The Silent Enigma" a few times in the past and it didn't really do much for me but I put it on while doing the dishes and cleaning my apartment and it made a much stronger impression
- I've had that Ruts CD for a long time and never listened to it til this last month...boy was I missing out
- I have always thought the Counting Crows were one of the lamest bands of all time and their new album did nothing to dissuade me

- Why did I listen to multiple Michael Franti albums when I already know I don't like his shit? Sometimes I just don't understand my motives
- The new Xibalba album is AWESOME; I never really dug them too much before but this shit is really good
- "Human rights went on vacation..."
- Bad Religion has released the same album like 6 times in recent years
- "...And only the wounded remain"
- "Merchandise, it keeps us in line"
- Stick To Your Guns adding those strained clean vocals wasn't the best bet IMO...they shoulda stuck to their guns
- Worst of the month: Aer, Redman, Saving Abel, Youth In Revolt, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Stick Figure
- "Are You Dead Yet?" may be one of the stupidest album titles of all time but it gets a lot more hate than it deserves
- Maybe its because they're the songs that I always kinda gazed over in my many, many times listening to "Angel Dust" but this time around it was "RV" and especially "Jizzlobber" that got stuck in my head
- Damn that Redman album was AWFUL
- I actually was pleasantly surprised by that Slightly Stoopid album but its just wayyyy too long. On a similar tip, that Tribal Seeds album is also way too long but not nearly as enjoyable
- I am truly befuddled by how insanely popular Imagine Dragons are...I mean they're not horrible, there are like 2 or 3 songs on each of their albums that are decent, but how are they headlining material for so many festivals? I just don't get it.
- That Aquadolls girl is hella cute
- Part of me can't believe Antemasque is the type of music the ATDI guys are doing nowadays but I actually like it alot.
- I guess I really need to check out Turbonegro's 90s albums to understand what the hype is about because every time I've tried to give them a try I'm severely underwhelmed

- "Road Dogs" was even more disappointing than I had expected it to be
- Man I watched some boring-ass action movies this month.
- I swear to God Rambo teams up with the goddamn Taliban in "Rambo III" and before the credits roll there's a screen commending the freedom fighters of Afghanistan...The movie was made in 1988, before the Gulf War, so the U.S. totally was helping them around this time, it's just bizarre looking at those scenes in hindsight
- "Stranger Than Fiction" is hella underrated
- "I learned the facts of life, from watching 'The Facts Of Life'!"
- I watched 3 Jamie Foxx movies this month. Do with that what you will.
- Holy shit "The Thin Red Line" is a longass movie
- Troy told me that "Superman Returns" was gonna suck but I actually kinda liked it (despite it also being maybe a tad long)

- Stick To Your Guns adding those strained clean vocals wasn't the best bet IMO...they shoulda stuck to their guns
- Worst of the month: Aer, Redman, Saving Abel, Youth In Revolt, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Stick Figure
- "Are You Dead Yet?" may be one of the stupidest album titles of all time but it gets a lot more hate than it deserves
- Maybe its because they're the songs that I always kinda gazed over in my many, many times listening to "Angel Dust" but this time around it was "RV" and especially "Jizzlobber" that got stuck in my head
- Damn that Redman album was AWFUL
- I actually was pleasantly surprised by that Slightly Stoopid album but its just wayyyy too long. On a similar tip, that Tribal Seeds album is also way too long but not nearly as enjoyable
- I am truly befuddled by how insanely popular Imagine Dragons are...I mean they're not horrible, there are like 2 or 3 songs on each of their albums that are decent, but how are they headlining material for so many festivals? I just don't get it.
- That Aquadolls girl is hella cute
- Part of me can't believe Antemasque is the type of music the ATDI guys are doing nowadays but I actually like it alot.
- I guess I really need to check out Turbonegro's 90s albums to understand what the hype is about because every time I've tried to give them a try I'm severely underwhelmed

- "Road Dogs" was even more disappointing than I had expected it to be
- Man I watched some boring-ass action movies this month.
- I swear to God Rambo teams up with the goddamn Taliban in "Rambo III" and before the credits roll there's a screen commending the freedom fighters of Afghanistan...The movie was made in 1988, before the Gulf War, so the U.S. totally was helping them around this time, it's just bizarre looking at those scenes in hindsight
- "Stranger Than Fiction" is hella underrated
- "I learned the facts of life, from watching 'The Facts Of Life'!"
- I watched 3 Jamie Foxx movies this month. Do with that what you will.
- Holy shit "The Thin Red Line" is a longass movie
- Troy told me that "Superman Returns" was gonna suck but I actually kinda liked it (despite it also being maybe a tad long)

- The first time I listened to that Anubis Gate album its like it didn't strike me at all but this time around, its pretty damn good
- I didn't even realize Foxy Shazam was still a band but here they are with a middle-of-the road new album
- "The Kids, They Are The Future."
- "Adore" is hella underrated still..."Behold! The Nitemare" is amongst the Pumpkins' best songs in my opinion
- That live Heats CD is goddamn AWESOME
- Damn I shouldn't have slept on Happy Diving for so long they really kick ass...Good call Kasey
- "Your Shadow" by Waterdown is so sweet-sounding but so creepy at the same time..."You cannot wipe me off of your shoulder"
- Worst of the month: Jah My, It Boys!, Causers, Icon For Hire, Absurd Tones, Diminish In Eternity,
- Goddamn that Avett Brothers album I listened to is SO much more boring than whatever I had heard before
- It's crazy how AC/DC can churn out literally the same album every couple years and somehow make it work
- Handguns are alright for fans of Set Your Goals, similar bands, etc. but there's nothing to them to set them apart
- I like that chick from The Agonist and its cool shes carrying on the name of Arch Enemy but she is no Angela Gossow. Not by a long shot.
- It should have gone without saying but that early-2000s Snoop Dogg album fuckin sucks
- I had never even heard of Dan Mangan before but his newest album (a collaboration with the band BlackSmith) is one of my favorites from last year
- What was I thinking listening to a Mike Pinto album? Just asking for mental anguish?
- I've listened to "I Get Wet" like a zillion times since I first heard it but this is the first time that "Girls Own Love" was the song that got stuck in my head...Similarly with "Parallel Lines," for some reason it was "I Know But I Don't Know" and "Sunday Girl" that got stuck today
- I wouldn't suggest listening to the entire UB40 Greatest Hits CD if you already find their 2 big hits somewhat annoying...it's just like an hour and a half of the same bullshit, over and over and over

MOVIE NOTES
- Between "Goldmember" and "Dumb and Dumber To" I feel like I saw the worst mainstream comedies every made this month...But I'm sure there are movies out there that could easily prove me wrong.
- That goddamn Cartoon Classics DVD is so goddamn long its like the longest single DVD we own...I think I watched nearly 2 hours of Popeye and then like an hour+ of Betty Boop and if you haven't rewatched or ever watched those old cartoons, many of them repeat themselves and it gets kinda annoying (especially the Betty Boop ones) but goddammit if Popeye The Sailor Man isn't an American hero...His nephews are fuckin brats tho
- I actually really enjoyed "Guardians Of The Galaxy" a lot, and in an unprecedented turn for almost any work of cinema, I kinda wanna watch it again soon. I Am Groot.
- Bad Brains really, really kicked ass live in their heyday.
- WOW. "King Kong" is so long but its like the ENTIRE TIME I was captivated...I always put off watching it because I knew in advance how ridiculously long it was but damn was it a payoff.
- I was really disappointed with "The Interview"...I mean there were some funny parts but goddamn James Franco was grating
- Believe it or not that was the first time I'd ever seen "Aliens"
- There's a lot of sexual tension going on between April O'Neil and Casey Jones in that old 90s TMNT movie that I didn't pick up on when I was a kid...Also Shredder get smashed in a goddamn trash compactor at the end that's pretty gnarly
- When "V For Vendetta" came out in high school I remember a bunch of people told me I'd probably really like it, and honestly high school me very well may have because I was so idealistic, but nowadays all I can see is a series of Aimed Wrenches...so many Wrenches....
- "Battle: Los Angeles" was by far the most boring-ass movie I watched all month and it's a goddamn action movie with explosions and aliens and shit...Troy and Miller and I ended up talking through most of the movie because it just couldn't hold our attention

- The first time I listened to that Anubis Gate album its like it didn't strike me at all but this time around, its pretty damn good
- I didn't even realize Foxy Shazam was still a band but here they are with a middle-of-the road new album
- "The Kids, They Are The Future."
- "Adore" is hella underrated still..."Behold! The Nitemare" is amongst the Pumpkins' best songs in my opinion
- That live Heats CD is goddamn AWESOME
- Damn I shouldn't have slept on Happy Diving for so long they really kick ass...Good call Kasey
- "Your Shadow" by Waterdown is so sweet-sounding but so creepy at the same time..."You cannot wipe me off of your shoulder"

- Goddamn that Avett Brothers album I listened to is SO much more boring than whatever I had heard before
- It's crazy how AC/DC can churn out literally the same album every couple years and somehow make it work
- Handguns are alright for fans of Set Your Goals, similar bands, etc. but there's nothing to them to set them apart
- I like that chick from The Agonist and its cool shes carrying on the name of Arch Enemy but she is no Angela Gossow. Not by a long shot.
- It should have gone without saying but that early-2000s Snoop Dogg album fuckin sucks
- I had never even heard of Dan Mangan before but his newest album (a collaboration with the band BlackSmith) is one of my favorites from last year
- What was I thinking listening to a Mike Pinto album? Just asking for mental anguish?
- I've listened to "I Get Wet" like a zillion times since I first heard it but this is the first time that "Girls Own Love" was the song that got stuck in my head...Similarly with "Parallel Lines," for some reason it was "I Know But I Don't Know" and "Sunday Girl" that got stuck today
- I wouldn't suggest listening to the entire UB40 Greatest Hits CD if you already find their 2 big hits somewhat annoying...it's just like an hour and a half of the same bullshit, over and over and over

MOVIE NOTES
- Between "Goldmember" and "Dumb and Dumber To" I feel like I saw the worst mainstream comedies every made this month...But I'm sure there are movies out there that could easily prove me wrong.
- That goddamn Cartoon Classics DVD is so goddamn long its like the longest single DVD we own...I think I watched nearly 2 hours of Popeye and then like an hour+ of Betty Boop and if you haven't rewatched or ever watched those old cartoons, many of them repeat themselves and it gets kinda annoying (especially the Betty Boop ones) but goddammit if Popeye The Sailor Man isn't an American hero...His nephews are fuckin brats tho
- I actually really enjoyed "Guardians Of The Galaxy" a lot, and in an unprecedented turn for almost any work of cinema, I kinda wanna watch it again soon. I Am Groot.
- Bad Brains really, really kicked ass live in their heyday.
- WOW. "King Kong" is so long but its like the ENTIRE TIME I was captivated...I always put off watching it because I knew in advance how ridiculously long it was but damn was it a payoff.
- I was really disappointed with "The Interview"...I mean there were some funny parts but goddamn James Franco was grating
- Believe it or not that was the first time I'd ever seen "Aliens"
- There's a lot of sexual tension going on between April O'Neil and Casey Jones in that old 90s TMNT movie that I didn't pick up on when I was a kid...Also Shredder get smashed in a goddamn trash compactor at the end that's pretty gnarly
- When "V For Vendetta" came out in high school I remember a bunch of people told me I'd probably really like it, and honestly high school me very well may have because I was so idealistic, but nowadays all I can see is a series of Aimed Wrenches...so many Wrenches....
- "Battle: Los Angeles" was by far the most boring-ass movie I watched all month and it's a goddamn action movie with explosions and aliens and shit...Troy and Miller and I ended up talking through most of the movie because it just couldn't hold our attention

- Worst of the month: Hollywood Undead (how the fuck was this shit ever popular?), The Ready Set (jesus christ that shit is annoying), Cluster Headaches (it's like I get it, but its not working well, stop), Lea Michele (why did I even listen to this?), Within Temptation, Navarone (both of the last 2 bands are so boring I don't even have any shit to talk), The Creature From The Sleepy Lagoon (just plain terrible), hellogoodbye (way too cutesy for me)
- Steve Aoki is hella overrated
- Why did I listen to an entire Maroon 5 album? What the fuck is wrong with me?
- It's rare that I listen to 2 bands with exclamation points at the end of their name but I did it this month...Living the dream
- All the reviews I read of the new Wye Oak album lament that the frontwoman stopped using guitar because she was so badass so I guess I should check out their older albums because this new guitar-less album is badass
- The new Weezer album fucking sucks but then again it is Weezer of course it sucks
- Timber Timbre is pretty dope but much like The War On Drugs, the singer sounds too much like the Arcade Fire guy for me to distinguish them
- Stevie Nicks has a new album out. That is all.
- Xzibit is on the new Within Temptation album for some reason
- Pepper is way less offensive and childish than I had hoped
- I might have to listen to that D'Angelo album a couple more times to appreciate how dope everybody else seems to think it is (Lauryn Hill syndrome)
- The only song from I liked from both the Asking Alexandria AND Winds Of Plague albums were the instrumental interludes that every metalcore band has...that's a bad sign.
- Most of that Bonaparte album fucking sucks but the few songs that are good are GREAT
- Damn The Acacia Strain just gets more and more boring by the album...its like that's what they're going for, "how boring can we possibly be?"

- No matter how many times I try to give Entombed a chance they never seem to catch my ear like at all
- I wish I could be disappointed by the new Smashing Pumpkins album but I just don't care anymore, and that's the saddest part of it all

- I listened to wayyyyyy more Eddie Money than this list would indicate
- Favorite 'new finds' of the month: Your Old Droog, Protomartyr, Skeletal Remains, Tinariwen, Blazing Eye, Parquet Courts, Scuffs, Wye Oak, Ben Frost, Katarina, Anubis Gate
- Worst of the month: Hollywood Undead (how the fuck was this shit ever popular?), The Ready Set (jesus christ that shit is annoying), Cluster Headaches (it's like I get it, but its not working well, stop), Lea Michele (why did I even listen to this?), Within Temptation, Navarone (both of the last 2 bands are so boring I don't even have any shit to talk), The Creature From The Sleepy Lagoon (just plain terrible), hellogoodbye (way too cutesy for me)
- Steve Aoki is hella overrated
- Why did I listen to an entire Maroon 5 album? What the fuck is wrong with me?
- It's rare that I listen to 2 bands with exclamation points at the end of their name but I did it this month...Living the dream
- All the reviews I read of the new Wye Oak album lament that the frontwoman stopped using guitar because she was so badass so I guess I should check out their older albums because this new guitar-less album is badass
- The new Weezer album fucking sucks but then again it is Weezer of course it sucks
- Timber Timbre is pretty dope but much like The War On Drugs, the singer sounds too much like the Arcade Fire guy for me to distinguish them
- Stevie Nicks has a new album out. That is all.
- Xzibit is on the new Within Temptation album for some reason
- Pepper is way less offensive and childish than I had hoped
- I might have to listen to that D'Angelo album a couple more times to appreciate how dope everybody else seems to think it is (Lauryn Hill syndrome)
- The only song from I liked from both the Asking Alexandria AND Winds Of Plague albums were the instrumental interludes that every metalcore band has...that's a bad sign.
- Most of that Bonaparte album fucking sucks but the few songs that are good are GREAT
- Damn The Acacia Strain just gets more and more boring by the album...its like that's what they're going for, "how boring can we possibly be?"

- No matter how many times I try to give Entombed a chance they never seem to catch my ear like at all
- I wish I could be disappointed by the new Smashing Pumpkins album but I just don't care anymore, and that's the saddest part of it all

- I had to ask the former drummer of Take This Hand to see if the old tracks were anywhere online because they never actually released the EP...a fucking shame because its such a badass album, even if they are straight-edge Christians....Inland Empire 2006 IN YOUR FACE
- I thought Klaxons were gonna sound like The Strokes not Daft Punk...not really about it
