NOTES:
-          Most of the albums on this list I actually own on CD. I’m trying to get through my old collection and get it all loaded so I stopped listening to as much online stuff this month.
-          I have listened to that Big D album so many times and yet somehow it never got loaded
-          “Cries of the Past” is such a good album, I had a mislabeled CD for years because the version I had was much different. Good thing my copy started skipping partway in so I downloaded the real verion.
-          Listening to Static X made me think of elementary school
-          The Donnas aren’t half as shitty as I remember them being
-          The last 2 albums I listened to on 3/14 were my favorite vinyls for like all of freshman year in high school
-          A.A. Bondy isn’t nearly as boring as I remember him being
-          I think “Wish You Were Here” is my favorite Pink Floyd album. On a related note, I heard Primus’s version of “Have a Cigar” before I ever heard the original, and I listened to both CDs again within a few days of each other this month. Small world.
-          The Virgin Prunes were the only Irish band I listened to on St. Patrick’s Day.
-          Emmure SUCKS.
-          “The Suburbs” is such a damn good album
-          The first time I listened to Dirty Sweet I hated them but clearly my tastes have changed because this time around I enjoyed it
-          Faith No More’s “Angel Dust” got played a lot in the last week of this month, I discovered a newfound obsession for this album
-          Three Throwdown albums in one month?
-          I can respect this new trend of femmecees or whatever, but I don’t really like a lot of their songs
I also saw Collective Consciousness, Ethan Harvey, The Maxies, The Tea Party Crashers, Madrost, Narcoleptic Youth, Rogue Rats, Shady Characters, Point Of View, and Nevermeant perform live.

NOTES
-          The new Lacuna Coil album is already the worst album of the year
-          The decision to give Young Joc a chance was a poorly-made one
-          I should have taken one look at the name of the new Megadeth album and turned away
-          Sepalcure is very relaxing-
-          Woody Guthrie really loved that river
-          I think Lushlife should be in the discussion of the dopest new hip hop
-          Save The Swim Team!
-          Wishbone Ash is highly underrated
-          2 Built To Spill albums in one day? I’ve gone mad.
-          I need more Pharoahe in my life
-          “Jumpin’ from 6 to 6”
-          I listened to more jazz this month than I did in all of 2011
-          I wish I could travel back to the mid-50s just so I could hit on and be rejected by Wanda Jackson
-          I cleaned my bathroom while listening to Entombed

NOTES:
  • -         I <3 Cannibal Corpse
  • -          Suagrhill Gang songs are way too long
  • -          I totally forgot about Anomie
  • -          The Jay-Z/Kanye album is better than I expected, but that’s not saying much
  • -          Real Estate is one of my favorite new bands, very good album
  • -          I didn’t realize that Murphy’s Law was such a joke band
  • -          The new MMJ album isn’t nearly as good as their past stuff
  • -          Amon Tobin makes some bizarre music but its goddamn cool
  • -          Deception Of A Ghost is about as generic as their name implies
  • -          I thought Bomb The Music Industry was supposed to be a ska band
  • -          I never thought I’d be saying this, but that Styx album was pretty dope
  • -          The Fucking Champs don’t sound at all like what I thought they would. Same for Lemuria.
  • -          Cloud Nothings deserve the hype
  • -          A few songs into the Groundswell album I started to think, “Why does this suck so bad?” so I looked them up and it turns out they went on to become Three Days Grace. That explains a lot.
  • -          The Jesus Jones album I listened to is every bit as bad as any rational music listener would expect it to be, and I don’t know what I was thinking listening to it.
  • -          I get it, but I find Le Tigre to be pretty annoying most of the time
  • -          That was the first time I’d listened to a Fugazi album for far too long
  • -          Why the guy from Fall Of Troy decided to break up Fall Of Troy and start a band with a different name but that still sounds exactly like Fall Of Troy, I don’t understand.

I also saw Ethan Harvey, The Hellraisers, Xpulsion, The Coltranes, Ten Thousand Leagues, Griever, and Wolves In The Throne Room perform live.
